forward copy of Dispatch addressed by H. Excellency Sir James Grant to the Secretary for War & State
I take the opportunity of making
some remarks on its
contents:
The lease was obtained
by the Hon Gent of the
Canton Morrice whilst I was
sojourning at Canton, & I
brought the copy of it with me to H.Kong.
However it is a matter
of authority; this is an
instance
as at Moa Arces requests
I myself gave written authority to
acquire
the lease,
the Land under
as I advised You
of very slight import; Grace in Dark. No 33
I was not aware
that there was any doubt
on the subject.
